CPT12 to Air Robust Fall Election Series

Denver (September 10, 2014) – Colorado Public Television (CPT12, Channel 12 PBS) will air a comprehensive Colorado Decides 2014 election schedule featuring candidate and ballot initiative debates, a new-to-air student debate series, Both Sides of the Story, and election night coverage with longtime election partner, CBS4. We’ll also take Colorado Inside Out on the road to the Highlands Ranch Library for a panel discussion, meet and greet and audience questions. All episodes will be live streamed during their taping times.

Both Sides of the Story makes its premiere on September 24 at 7:00 p.m. with the award-winning students on the East High School Speech and Debate team debating Colorado ballot issues, but with an important twist.  Hosted by CBS4 anchor Alan Gionet, each student will be asked to advocate for both sides of a 2014 ballot issue within the same hour.

Colorado Decides 2014, the long running election debate series co-produced with CBS4, comes back for its tenth year, featuring debates on major ballot issues, statewide and Federal races.

Statewide races covered will include Attorney General, State Treasurer, Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor. This year’s series will also offer a special debate featuring the alternate party candidates running for U.S. Senate and Governor.

Three of the statewide ballot issues will be debated, including the initiatives regarding GMO Labeling, the expansion of Horse Track Gaming and School Board Open Meetings.

Four of Colorado’s Congressional races will be featured, including the hotly contested race in the 6 District between Mike Coffman and Andrew Romanoff. The races in the 4th, 2nd and 7th Districts will also be featured.
