Reporting to the Vice President of Content & Community Partnerships, the Director of Content and Programming is responsible for developing and managing a slate of original programming, acquiring programming from third parties, and developing and maintaining relationships with key talent and producers. Incumbents are expected to support fund generating activities through the following means: scheduling programming to advance membership campaigns, identifying grants and other funding opportunities and on-air support to assist the Development, Membership and Underwriting departments. The Director of Content & Programming will also be responsible for managing the station’s programming budget as well as managing production and programming staff.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 7 years of content production, television or agency experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. The candidate will have a deep understanding of the network’s brand and target audience, and a track record of developing and executing successful programming strategies. The candidate will also have strong relationships with the creative community.
The Director of Content & Programming works with the VP Content & Community Partnerships and other members of the executive team to set the overall programming strategy and vision for the organization.
Identify new opportunities for programming and partnerships that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
Oversee the development and implementation of all programming, ensuring high quality and adherence to deadlines.
valuate programs regularly to ensure they are meeting their objectives and making a positive impact on the organization and its constituents.
Oversee content production department.
Management of production staff.
Collaboration with Development, Marketing, and Membership staff.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and operational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications.
